Keep refilling the bucket with water and tree preservative until you are ready to bring it indoors and decorate, then keep the reservoir of your tree stand filled with water and preservative. As long as the tree is 'drinking' water, you should continue to supply it with water and preservative so it remains fresh and fragrant.
